Who We Are And How We Got Here

People often ask me how I came up with the name for Clear4Life Electrolysis.

I have been a runner for more than 30 years. I began running in a time when "young women just didn't do that sort of thing."

I remember going to a track meet in high school (before I began to run myself) and watching the few women distance runners tackle even just two miles.  That feat was just beyond my comprehension. I often wondered how in the world anyone could run that far--especially a girl!

Soon after that I decided to give running a whirl myself.  What started as an effort to attract the attention of a gentleman I was interested in, who also was a distance runner, became a life long passion for running. My plan worked and before long we were dating, and then married, and  a short time later had a child on the way.

To make a long story short, I was encouraged and kept running for the next 30+ years and still run every day.

After the birth of my children I developed a serious excess hair problem - a male pattern beard - on my face.  After reading an article about electrolysis (what in the world was electrolysis???) in the local newspaper I decided to look into it to see if I could get some help.

My electrologist explained that she could certainly help me, but I had to be patient and that it would take a series of treatments in order to eliminate my excess hair. I was disappointed to learn that she could not "fix" my problem overnight, but I kept the faith and stuck with the program. I wondered every day during the first few treatmets if it was ever going to finally go away, and wondered if anyone I met and spoke to would notice that I had a problem. The hardest part of the whole process was not tweezing the hair like I was accustomed to doing before I began treatment.

Needless to say, I looked much better quickly and continued to improve rapidly with each appointment, much to my sheer delight!

My electrologist quite literally changed my life.

Only someone who has experienced the embarrassment and humiliation of an unwanted hair problem can really appreciate how hard this type of problem can be on their confidence, self-esteem and even social acceptance.

Many years after I had successfully eliminated my own unwanted hair problem and raised my children I decided that I really, truly wanted to be able to help other people in the same way that I found my own solution.

I decided to change careers, and as scary as it was to make the decision, I believed this was my calling so strongly I quit my job and returned to school to become a registered electrologist.

When I attended electrology school at the River Rock Electrology Institute in Eau Claire, Wisconsin my teacher, Dr. Hilary Bennett,  thought it would be appropriate and clever to give me the nickname "Runner4Life".

I really took a fancy to it - especially the "4Life" part of it, so I felt it would be fitting to use that in the name of my business.

In addition, the word "Clear" sums up in a very simple and accurate way what happens to our skin when we enjoy the benefits of electrolysis. Electrolysis is something extraordinary we do for ourselves that makes a difference for life.
